John Allen's Almost Top 10 Favorite Books Ever!

My oldest, John Allen, is an avid reader. I have mentioned this before, but I'll mention it again - I really thank his second grade teacher for instilling a love of reading in him. She was an older teacher that had taught for years and saved almost every series of reading books that she had used since she began teaching. Her kids read all of the time! When they weren't reading a story from their normal reading books, they were reading a story from one of the older reading series. John Allen has loved to read ever since then. That is one of the reasons I chose literature based homeschool curriculum when we began homeschooling him in fourth grade.

He has read dozens and dozens of great books in all of those years. I used to play a game with him and ask if the latest book he read would be one of his top ten favorite books. Usually he couldn't actually give me a top ten list, it always ended up being a top fifteen or twenty list because he could never narrow it down to just ten!

Well, a couple of weeks ago I asked again for a top ten list because I wanted to write this post. As usual he couldn't narrow it down. It ended up being the top eleven, but even that isn't true because some of the "books" are actually a series of several books.

I'm not going to describe every book (or series of books) in this post, but if you click on its picture it will take you to Amazon where you can read a description. In the interest of full disclosure the links are affiliate links to Amazon and if you choose to purchase anything after clicking one of the links I will receive a commission. If you do choose to purchase using one of my affiliate links, thank you so much for supporting a struggling homeschool missionary family. If you don't choose to purchase, that's okay as well, thank you for clicking over and reading this post.

So, without further ado, here is John Allen's list of his favorite books ever (in no particular order).
